You’ll want to start with a template. This will help you get the size of your flower right, and it will make it easier for you to draw without having to measure every single petal and stem.

Now that you’ve got the basic idea of how to animate a flower blooming, let’s look at how you can put this into action. The first step is to draw your flower points on paper.
Each petal will consist of 2 parts: an outer edge and an inner edge (see illustration). Next add in more detail to your flower points by drawing small circles at their tips (this will be important later when we create our animation). Finally, add some leaves!

Now that you’ve added the major petals to your flower drawing, it’s time to add some details. Follow these steps:
Use a ruler and pencil to draw straight lines. If you’re drawing freehand, use an ellipse as a guide for the outer edge of each petal (as shown in step 5).
Use a compass or protractor to draw circles. Since you already drew an ellipse for each of your flowers’ outer edges, all you need are concentric circles with different diameters! The smaller circle goes on top; it should have about half the diameter of your larger one.
Add shading using pencil or colored pencils. Shading gives depth and volume to all objects in three-dimensional space even if those objects are flat like paper or computer screens!

I used a hole punch to make a slit in mine, but there are other ways to do it as well. You can cut lines with scissors or use an X-ACTO knife if you want to get fancy.
It doesn’t really matter how big or small the slit is; just be sure that it will fit over your pages when they are folded down!

Glue Velcro To One Edge Of The Paper Square
Using a glue stick, attach the flower drawing to your bookmark.
Use a piece of tape to hold the paper in place while you work on attaching the velcro.
Next, place the flower drawing face-down on top of your bookmark, aligning it with its edges. Stick velcro strips along one side edge of each sheet and press firmly into place so that they are secure but still movable (i.e., not glued).
When you’re done gluing all four sides of your bookmark’s edge, flip over both pieces and check that everything looks right before proceeding!

The best books for this purpose are ones that have a lot of text or illustrations on each page, so that when the pages are bent back and forth quickly with each turn of the page, the pages will move more slowly than if they were just blank white sheets.
